Special Projects

Paul D. Morano, Jr., Assistant Chief Development Officer

We work collaboratively with other city divisions, city departments and partners on a wide range of projects and initiatives, including:

  • Attracting new residents, visitors and businesses through the promotion of cultural offerings, events and marketing activities.
  • Building the vitality of the downtown core and neighborhood centers.
  • Engagement in planning initiatives to create new places for Worcester's growth and expansion.
  • Facilitating the disposition of city-owned surplus land.
  • Management/implementation of city sponsored special projects.
  • Small- and large-scale real estate development projects.

Streetscape & Urban Design

The city's streetscape and design standards are meant to serve as a guiding tool to be used by the City, private developers and property owners to steer future strategic development in a consistent, thoughtful and professional manner. These standards also aim to protect neighborhood character, enhance coordination among City departments and promote economic development.
